Audio cassettes come in various lengths, but CDs only hold 80 minutes, so that 90 minute mix tape someone gave you or you made will not fit on one CD. On the other hand, you can fit 2 thirty minute tapes on a single CD, so you may have to make some decisions about what is the best route for conversions. We can repair cassettes and we understand that when children were operating the tape recorder there could be good content almost anywhere on the tape. We usually apply noise reduction to content that is mostly speaking while we leave it off when the content is mostly music so that the full spectrum of musical ranges are audible.

Mini & Micro Cassettes

Often used in place of cassettes for recording meetings or conversations, these rascals also recorded young voices on answering machines. We have the machines to recover these precious memories and archive them for generations to come.

Mini Disc

The first portable digital format for DJs was often used to record oral histories or bands. We can play them back and re-format for the present day. Limited to 2-track recordings, we do not have 4 track recorders for multi-track playback.

The format of choice for live recordings or band masters before computers were up to speed; DAT offered hiss and glitch free recording and playback at a reasonable price point. Those tapes still sound great and can be reclaimed so the band can rock again or the recital finally shared with all the participants. Transferred to CD or audio files for a fixed price per tape.

8-Tracks

There were 8-Track recorders back in the day, and that is mostly what we see come in, as most commercial tapes are better replaced with cheap used CDs on Ebay. We have a great Sony player and are familiar with how to recover all the tracks. This is usually a somewhat tricky process so the pricing usually falls under audio editing.
